The consultant hiring for the Iowa campaign said "wow, two Jewish candidates, I don't think there's a single Jewish temple in the entire district", I held my tongue knowing that most Jews I've met used shul or synagogue and not temple, was offered the job but turned it down after discussing it with my then girlfriend and now wife if we could do that much of a distance.
After a career in NYC politics, it's like second nature to know the widely believed erroneous assumptions about ethnic faultlines.
