A close analog to the Biden pardon would be Clinton's pardoning of his brother Roger (drug related charges with alleged ties to Bill's own behavior that a pardon silenced), Mark Rich (corrupt fundraiser tied to Clinton, hot wife), the FALN terrorists (a sop to his wife, running for Senator in NY), and one or two others including a convicted bomber of the Capitol. A lot of covering for himself and clearing the way for a return to the WH via Hillary.
Of all the things I can imagine a Democrat not wanting to pardon someone for(from a PR standpoint at least), Tax fraud and subverting the background check for a firearm are very high on the list.
