Listening to the part of the episode where Justin is having issues getting conservative thinkers onto the show to explain policy logic. Justin, honestly, you playing devils advocate / in the mind of Trump and explaining that the plan may be to just flip the table and push for a better deal because the US has the power position is likely the BEST explanation for the policies. Off the top of my head the only intellectual I've heard that has given good intellectual position on many of the policies is Sarah Isgur but not too sure how easy or hard it would be to get her on. (In retrospect I believe she also argues tariff result in Swiss cheese so she would only be good on the non tariff related items)
There...may not actually be conservative intellectuals' in the present era to explain the policies because the polices are largely table flipping or punishing of enemies and rewarding friends (which is a very hard thing to defend from an "intellectual" standpoint). I haven't actually heard a good defense of BBB yet its all somewhere between the math is lying too well outgrow it (total BS). If the logic actually is, I don't care about the future I just need the next 3 years to go well then I can blame it on the next guy, then you wont get a good defense on the policy positions on an intellectual basis.
Jordan Peterson is a great example of why gaining an understanding of informal logical fallacies and critical thinking are important. It doesn't require expertise in an any given area to identify when someone claiming authority in the subject is full of shit, but it does require a certain level of vigilance and skepticism to not get sucked in.
I'd like to (sarcastically) offer up Newsmax's take that this is all just Trump and Elon playing 4D chess with congress/the media to sink the BBB because Trump doesn't like the bill either.
Check out the all in podcast. From a year ago. These guys all know musk personally.
They review the national debit and discuss how MMT/gov spending uses assets of all Americans in the debit isn't that bad comparison since the USA is so rich and cam pay it off.
This concerns the tech bro billionaire since they feel like this means the government sees their wealth as it's own and those guys don't like that.
Shortly after that people started hopping on the trump train starting most vocally with david sacks.
Since the BBB has come out all their tunes are shifting not just musk.
