Mamdani Wins Big. Trump Frames His Bill. What Actually Happened to Iran's Nuclear Sites?

An absolute historic upset in New York

This wasn’t just a win — it was a knockout. Zohran Mamdani didn’t squeak by Andrew Cuomo in the NYC Democratic mayoral primary, he flat-out embarrassed him. Forty-four percent of first-choice votes. Cuomo trailed at 36, and Brad Lander at a distant 11. Cuomo didn’t even bother waiting for ranked-choice voting to play out. He conceded. The expectation — even from Mamdani’s own people — was that he’d trail in the first round and pull ahead with second-choice rankings. Didn’t need it. He smoked Cuomo out of the gate.

Let’s remember how we got here. Eric Adams gets caught canoodling with Trump and loses favor with Democrats. Enter Cuomo, looking to rehab his image, and the party establishment tries a switcheroo. Push Adams aside, swap in Cuomo, hope for an easy primary. Instead, Cuomo ran one of the worst campaigns I’ve ever seen. No fire, no message, no reason for being other than “I’m not Adams.” And now centrists are desperate to re-embrace the guy they just iced out, because he’s their best shot at stopping Mamdani in the general. Irony, thy name is Eric Adams.
