Conservatives can't make good art nor even claim victory when good art is made within their own cultural parameters because they so centrally identify themselves in opposition to the dominant culture that doing so would betray their identity.
I remember when Downton Abbey came out that Fox News staked out Lord Grantham as being a conservative hero, but much like those who were prematurely associating with Daenerys Targaryen as a worthy character for their daughters to be named after. My 11 old daughter has a classmate named Kalessi, a title for Daenerys that did not age well for those who watched the series until the end when the character becomes an unrepentant war criminal burning thousands of civilians alive. Lord Grantham was never the wealthy social-better who was worthy of the deferential treatment because he would know what to do with money, since he flittered away the lion's share of his fortune and was saved by the Irish chauffer turned son-in-law and his daughter who both demonstrated that the the person who had inherited title was thoroughly incompetent with anything to do with money. The Irish guy with socialist tendencies was a savant at managing the estate and fortune.
Media criticism requires critical thinking, and critical thinking shares words with critical race theory so that's a non-starter for most conservatives.
I don't think I would destroy Iranian oil infrastructure, but certainly stopping ships from making it into Port would work. I would also destroy any bridge that leads to a route out of the country, thereby cutting off most imports and exports over land. We certainly have not had an issue taking out the rudders of ships that have broken the blockade. destroying the rudders of ships in Port and taking out tugboats seems like a decent way to leave infrastructure intact but making the ports unusable. And a more drastic method would be to mine the waterways near Iranian ports
You're right, this is something that should have been dealt with way back in the day with Reagan. Because we've let them build up this massive ability to build out cruise missiles and cheap drones. We can however do things like short circuiting power lines that does not destroy the power plant but takes it offline for a while. I know everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face. We can do things that will not destroy oil infrastructure, but for instance damaging rudders and propellers of ships in dock so that they cannot move out of dock basically not possible to use Karg Island, until the ship can be repaired. Needless to say, we've been using kid gloves with Iran since 1979. And I am well aware that your opponent always gets a say in the fight.
Justin relaying the Kid's bop version of Oppenheimer's catchphrase scene might be even funnier than the uncensored version on Great Night. Justin the father is trying so hard to keep it clean.
The right wing have to be mad about the Odyssey because otherwise they would have to process Trump's inflation and setting money on fire in foreign wars, much like the left wing had to cry about pronouns instead of talking about Biden's inflation and setting money on fire in foreign wars.
In honor of @BigJim, who's repeatedly suggested Sal Mercagcliano as a guest, I'm gonna gonna take a drink whenever JuRY mentions the Bab-el-Mandeb on his show too. Now I just need to know if long-time Diamond Club member @babcat 's handle is a reference to that straight...
I hope so. If Iran once a nuclear bomb so much maybe we should deliver it. kind of sarcasm kind of not. We really are using kid gloves with Iran. They won't like the air war if we treat it like the defeat of Nazi Germany.
The US and Israel are using kid gloves on Iran? Destroying oil infrastructure of Iran will not be done without oil infrastructure being destroyed in kind by Iran and then it won't matter who controls the Strait of Hormuz because zero fossil fuels will be coming from the Persian Gulf and the global economy will come to a screeching halt. This is not a video game where being player one gets you a chance to win without any consequences for your actions. There's avoidable negative consequences for starting an elective war, and huffing up your chest and stating your country is the good guy doesn't shield you from those consequences. There's no ‘free lunch’ so what are you willing to suffer to rain down atrocities on a country that has invaded [checks notes] zero nations? What is the acceptable price to commit war crimes, collective punishment, and atrocities? Is collapsing the global economy worth it to show that you are “taking the kid gloves off”? Much like determinating who's an asshole and who's not the asshole isn't making the judgement call, the iniating military doesn't get to dictate the response to their their attack, wish casting is what you are depending on.
