Stay warm, Texas
Pelosi calls for 9/11 Commission-style investigation into Capitol Riots
A quick break from politics to wish all of our reader in Texas the best.
2.7 million Texans are/were without power after a massive cold front put an unforecastable burden on the Lone Star State’s power grids. A reminder that Houston is our third largest US city by population. This fact chaps Dallas’ ass because if you included all of the surrounding cities that make up the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex THEY’D be #3.
Point is there are a lot of people in Texas that aren’t used to these temperatures and further aren’t equipped to deal with them without power.
This is an unexpected and likely deadly scenario.
Stay safe and keep warm, Texas.
Man, I hate snow. I’m glad I’m writing this in California.

Shit.

Questions that come to my mind are:
“What did Capitol Police know? And when?”
“What did the FBI know, if anything?”
Certainly questions worth answering but a little different in scope than 9/11 where the very concept of that attack was something foreign to us. Also, as we found out, our massive intelligence outfits had the entire story but refused to share with each other due to agency rivalry. Maybe we find something similar out here?

I still haven’t forgotten the Biden 2028 idea, and I think it would be a fun segment - its 2028 and Biden’s running again. How? Against whom - presumably a republican who beat him in 2024? Who will be his Bernie this time? Is AOC ready to take on that role? Will he run with Kamala again, or someone else? Could it be Gloria Young? - CHARLIE
This is a meme now, huh? #Biden2028

Since we've opened the door to impeaching ex-presidents, can we impeach John Tyler next? After serving as president, Tyler was elected to the Confederate Congress before his death in 1862. I'm sure that will go a long way towards healing our country. - JD
I think we just wrote Tucker’s A-Block. Or Pelosi’s next fundraising email. I’m genuinely not sure which.

You will see that Haley and McConnell will not be the only Republicans to jump off the Trump train publicly. They are politicians playing politics. I heard that Trump was once asked what would happen if you lost all your money. He replied that he would know who his true friends are. We are seeing that now. His true political supporters will stay true and the ones that were "with him" only when things were good will show their true colors. I think this will let the people know who they can trust in the next election and who will actually represent them which is why we vote for them. - HALF NORMAL
My suspicion is that the winner of the ‘24 GOP nomination (if not Trump) will have a friendly or non-aggressive relationship with Trump. There is a lot of identity signaling now because politicians are trying to find lanes. But ultimately, Trump wants to be close to power and he represents a massive voter base.
Something that Trump’s narrative about election results has complicated by the way… stating as fact that if not for COVID, he would have won. You have to acknowledge you lost to do it, but I’m surprised we haven’t heard that more declaratively from MAGAworld.

That one wasn’t even hard.
