Last night was unlike anything I’ve seen in my lifetime. Democrats hold a 54–44 advantage in the Senate, with Mississippi and Alaska still uncalled and Democrats appearing to have advantages in both. They flipped Iowa, Kansas, Maine, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina and Texas. We’re looking at Senators Josh Turek, Adam Hamilton, Troy Jackson, Roy Cooper, Sherrod Brown, Annie Andrews and James Talarico. Weird, weird, weird results. And here’s my headline: candidates didn’t matter.
